A study suggests that
whilst some anti-psychotic prescriptions for people with dementia are appropriate, it is thought that up to
two-thirds of such are not. Having seen the effects of anti-psychotics on my own father, I cannot urge strongly
enough that people seek alternatives first before they resort to these kinds of medications for their loved
ones...
I always like to post
the news stories that suggest that a new dementia drug might be on its way. My hope is that one day, they'll
find the drug that will make this website obsolete...
For a long time my
suspicions have been that researchers are looking at the whole tau and protein thing wrong, this article
suggests that scientists might be coming to the same conclusion...
Both my sister and myself,
the daughters of a person who had early onset dementia, were diagnosed with abnormally low testosterone levels
for our ages (at age 28 I apparently had the testosterone levels of an 80year old woman!). So I have often
wondered if there might be some link to dementia onset and testosterone levels...
